FIBA-Africa Zone 3 Qualifers: Pillars Tackle Hoopers

Nigeria’s basketball Premier League champions, Kano Pillars of Kano will tomorrow tackle Royal Hoopers Basketball Club of Port Harcourt at the ongoing qualifying tourney for the FIBA-Africa Champions Club Cup for Men in Monrovia, Liberia.

The match will be a repeat of the finals of the Final-8 Play-Offs in Port Harcourt, where the defending champions, Pillars defeated Hoopers 87-86 points.

The match between the two Nigerian teams have been dubbed the star match of the day because of the pedigree of the clubs.

The qualifiers have been a good tournament for the Nigerian clubsides having had an impressive run in the matches played so far at the gymnasium of the Samuel Doe Sports Complex, Monrovia, Liberia.

Hoopers, coached by former Nigeria International Ogoh Odaudu, picked their third straight win with 60-44 points victory over Cote d’Ivoire league champion, Abidjan Basket Club (ABC) in yesterday’s match, while Pillars defeated Liberia champions, UHURU Kings by 67-42 points to remain on top of the six-team Zone-3 qualifiers.
