Detectives at the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba, Lagos are currently probing the circumstances surrounding the death of a 13-year old JSS 2 student at Epe, who was allegedly raped by a three-man gang.
The victim, Funmilola Iberu, a JSS 2 student of Odo Abara Secondary School, Epe was allegedly abducted by the suspects and taken to an uncompleted building in the area and raped.
The alleged rapists, it was learnt returned her to where they picked her after the act.
Her death was reported a few days after the incident and her corpse is currently at the Ijebu-Ode General Hospital, Ogun State awaiting autopsy.
P.M.NEWS gathered that the parents of the victim reported the incident to policemen at Epe who arrested one of the suspects.
A medical report signed by a doctor identified as Dr. Osho A.O. at the Epe hospital confirmed that the victim was raped.
According to Dr. Osho: “ Funmilola Iberu was brought to our hospital on 27 October, 2010 as a case of rape. She was bleeding profusely per virginam. There was intensive lacerations from the lower third of the virginia to the posterior furnix. She was also pale. She was treated accordingly and transfused with pints of blood donated by the father. She later developed urinary retention secondary to post traumatic pain that was however treated too and she was discharged home on 8 November, 2010.â€
The matter was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCIDÂ after the police at Epe had concluded their investigation.
Parents of the victim, Mr. and Mrs. Iberu told P.M.NEWS that their girl was abducted on Araromi Street, behind their residence, taken to an unknown place and raped.
“When she was returned by her abductors, she was bleeding seriously from her private parts and we took her to the police station where we were directed to take her to the Epe General Hospital for treatment.
“My daughter told me that she was gang-raped by the men and that they covered her mouth to prevent her from screaming,†Mr. Iberu narrated.
He called on the Inspector General of Police and the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to investigate the matter and bring the culprits to book.
Already, one of the suspects identified as Babatunde Lukmon, has been arrested and assisting the police in their investigations.
