The first edition of Bola Ahmed Tinubu U-14 Cup will hold in February next year.
The trophy and logo of the championship, put together in honour of the former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, were unveiled yesterday at the Sports Bar of the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, by the Chairman of the occasion, Chief Pius Akinyelure.
Speaking after the unveiling ceremony, Akinyelure who is the chairman of the Local Orgainsing Committee of the Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis Championship expressed delight with the vision behind the organisation of the grassroots tournament. He said it will help discover budding talents for the country.
He noted that the best way to develop the talents of Nigerian youths is to catch them young. He commended the organiser of the championship, Double Accord Resource Limited and Zenith Sports, for naming the trophy after Tinubu, whom he described as a worthy role model for the youth of the country.
P.M.Sports gathered that the forms for the championship will be on sale from the first week of January.
