Various frontline Muslim Groups in Lagos State on Tuesday adopted incumbent Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN) as their choice in the state for the governorship election billed for April this year, just as the governor also joined other Muslim faithful at the Tafawa Balewa Square rally to mark Eid-El Maolud Nabiyii.

The groups which included the Al-Fathi-Ul-Quareeb Society of Nigeria, the Companion, National Council of Muslim Youths, JEJEWIYAT Society of Nigeria, IKHWAN Muslim Society of Nigeria, Tijjaniyat Society of Nigeria, the Markas School, Agege, among others gathered at the open grounds of the Lagos House, Ikeja to also offer prayers for the success of Fashola and other Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) candidates at the forthcoming polls.

The groups had earlier gone round in a procession from the Ikeja roundabout to Alausa bearing different banners with different inscriptions on the various achievements recorded by Fashola in the last four years.

The event was organised as part of activities marking the Eid-el Malould Nabiyii and birthday of Prophet Muhammad.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Fashola commended them for their cooperation and support for his administration, saying that the successes recorded by his administration would not have been possible without their collaboration.

He said those in position of authority could not have successfully achieved all that is being ascribed to the administration without the support of the people and thanked them for reposing their confidence in him.

Governor Fashola tasked the people that since Lagos recorded the highest number of registered people in the voter registration exercise, the onus is on the people to also ensure full participation in the claims and objections exercise so that unknown faces are not allowed into the register.

“Please, ensure that you crosscheck your names and data to ensure that all the information captured by INEC registration officials during the registration exercise are correct during this one week which has been set aside for claims and objections by INEC,” he pleaded.

He said emphatically that it is by voting massively for all the candidates of the Action Congress of Nigeria in the next elections that the entire people of Lagos State would continue to enjoy the bountiful dividends of democracy that they are currently enjoying.
