Candidates of the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) and National Examination Council (NECO) can now check their examination results via certain models of Nokia phones, as the world mobile phone manufacturers,Â has launched its emerging market information service, calledÂ â€˜Ovi Life Toolsâ€™ in Nigeria.
The Ovi Life Tools service which allows WAEC and NECO candidates to check their results immediately it is released, also allows users of Nokia 2690 and C1-01 to have updated wide range of information ranging from healthcare, agriculture, education, entertainment and sports on their mobile phones.
The launch in Nigeria followed successful launches in Indonesia, India and China last year. Nokiaâ€™s Director of Ovi Life Tools for Africa, Mr. Izuchukwu Maduneme, disclosed that Ovi Life Tools has over 6.3 million users globally.
According to Maduneme, Nokiaâ€™s Director of Ovi Life Tools for Africa, â€œOvi Life Tools service is a key part of Nokiaâ€™s overall strategy to connect the next billion people by providing access to locally relevant services on affordable devices. It offers a wide range of information services covering healthcare, agriculture, education and entertainment which address the needs of rural consumers and improves their economic prosperity and quality of lifeâ€.
With the launch, farmers could be able to check market prices without travelling long distances, people will be able to find important healthcare information without having to travel miles to see a doctor, and WAEC and NECO students will be able to check their examination results.
All of these according to Nokia will be available on easy-to-use and affordable mobile phones. Nokiaâ€™s Ovi Life Tools in Nigeria will be offered on the Nokia 2690 and on the Nokia C1-01 at an affordable monthly subscription of N200. The service is currently available on Zain/Airtel, Glo Mobile, and Etisalat networks. It will soon be offered on the MTN network.
