RSG To Rehabilitate Etche Road, Renovate Okehi General Hospital

Following the deplorable state of some sections of the Igwuruta-Etche road, the State Government has said it would take urgent steps to rehabilitate the bad portions of the road to ensure free flow of traffic.

Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi gave the assurance Saturday at Okehi, headquarters of Etche Local Government Council during the 2011 Governorship Campaign rally in the area.

The governor, who highlighted some of the projects executed by his administration for the Etche people, said the two bridges on Apani-Ozuzu-Okehi road would be completed soon to increase access to the various communities in the area.

He explained that apart from the Igwuruta-Etche road, under construction, the state government was determined to give electricity to all the rural communities in the second tenure of his administration, noting that having done much for them, it was natural for them to pay back by voting for him and all the PDP candidates in the April elections.

The State Chief Executive, who reiterated his stand on new promises, hinted of the plan by the state government to renovate the General Hospitals and increase the number of primary healthcare centres in the area to enable the Okehi General Hospital handle cases from the primary health centres, on referral basis.

Governor Amaechi, who noted that the state government would do more to uplift the standard of living of Etche people urged them to vote massively for all PDP candidates beginning from President Goodluck Jonathan to the last position.

The governor disclosed that on assumption of office he was confronted with complaints from Etche people about cries of marginalization and injustice but expressed happiness that the present administration addressed some of the issues, adding that the second term would witness more infrastructures for them.

He thanked the people for the support and cooperation, which the state government under his leadership has enjoyed.

In his speech, the State Chairman of PDP, Chief Godpower Ake, said Etche Local Government appears to be one of the most favoured councils in the state for which others are jealous because of the number of infrastructural facilities sited in their area.

Chief Ake, noted that Governor Amaechi has made PDP more popular because of the achievements recorded by his government in just three and half years and urged the Etche people to show appreciation by voting all the PDP candidates in the April election.

The Director General of the Campaign Organisation, Chief Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike, commended Etche people for their massive turnout and support to the Amaechi led government, emphasizing that the only way to show appreciation to a performing governor would be to vote massively and protect their votes.

In their solidarity messages, Prince Emmanuel Anyanwu, Chief Allwell Onyesoh, High chief Jerome Eke and Youth Leader, Andy Wanjoku, said Governor Amaechi’s achievements in the first tenure are unparalleled because the change all over the state can be seen and promised to vote PDP 100 per cent in the forthcoming election.
