National Muslim Sports Development, NMSD, has concluded plans to organise the maiden edition of National Muslim Youth U-14 Soccer Championship starting from 19 to 27, March at the Campos Sports Centre, Lagos Island, Lagos State.
The tourney will hold in eight zones of Lagos State and a winner in each zone will qualify for the quarter final. The eight zones are Lagos Island 1 and Lagos Island II, Epe, Ikorodu, Badagry, Surulere and Mushin
Chairman of the organising committee, Alhaji Ibrahim Afini, told P.M.Sports that the tourney is the first of its kind and it will help the Muslim youths to actively engage in sports.
Afini said the competition will also give them an opportunity to interact with one another throughout the tourney.
He advised participating teams to shun violence that can tarnish the image of the competition.
“We want to use this championship to promote peace and unity among youths in Lagos State. We want to first organise the competition in Lagos and see if it can be organised at the national level before the year runs out,†he said.
