15th March, 2011
The NN24 Presidential Debate Committee said today that it is going ahead with arrangements for the presidential debate scheduled for Friday, 18th March 2011 at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.
In a press release signed by Tony Dara, Chief Executive Officer, CEO NN24, the digital satellite television station said invitations have been sent out to the four political parties being represented at the debate, members of the diplomatic corps, senior government officials, the business community, civil society groups, women and youth organisations among others.
According to him, the 120-minutes debate will cover a wide range of national and international issues including the economy, security, foreign affairs, education, health and gender related issues.
The television station also apologised for the failure of the satellite transmission to go live during the vice presidential debate held last week.
“This was due to connectivity problems which have now been rectified. We have compensated Nigerians for this through the continuous airing of the unedited version of the debate on NN24, BEN TV (UK) and on the internet through suburbanlive.com/live-nn24, Facebook and Youtube” said the television station.
It added that attempts are being made to air the debate on other television networks in Nigeria before the presidential debate on Friday.
