2 In Police Net Over Rape

The police in Lagos have arrested two suspects in connection with rape and robbery.

The suspects, Amechi Ogba, who resides at 17, Shokunbi Street, Bariga, and Ikenna Adiba, who resides at 22, Amodu Street, also in Bariga were alleged to have raped and robbed one lady (name withheld) at Ayoola Street, Bariga.

The victim, P.M.NEWS learnt, reported the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba, where an anti-robbery team was detail to arrest the culprits.

P.M.NEWS gathered that during interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime and also made useful statement that could help the police in their investigations.

In a similar development, the anti-robbery police team attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba, acting on information, arrested three suspected robbers at Agbelekale area of Meiran in Lagos State.

The suspects, Adigun Shoyinka, Gbenga Akinpelu and Nurudeen Fadairo were said to be carrying out a robbery operation around 4.30 a.m when the police arrived the scene.

They were said to have opened fire on the police. After a gun battle that lasted for some minutes, the suspects were overpowered and arrested. Items recovered from them at the time of arrest include two locally made pistols and live catridges.

The state police image maker, Mr. Samuel Jinadu, advised residents to be security conscious and always put on security lights in their houses so that criminals will not hide in the dark to attack them.
