P.M.Entertainment learnt that after the concert tagged ‘Forever Stella’ on 12 March, she went in search of amala (yam flour), her favorite meal, inside town.
The search took her to a popular eatery in Asaba and after the meal of amala and
ewedu (slimy vegetable) soup, she returned to the hotel room and within some minutes she started throwing up for hours.
She was later taken to a private hospital in Asaba at about 2 a.m. where she was diagnosed of food poisoning.
The Samba queen was later flown to Lagos where her personal doctor attended to her.
Speaking after she was discharged from the hospital, Her Excellency, as Stella is called by colleagues, said: “see how my love for ‘amala’ almost killed me. Well, I thank God for everything. I believe it is one of those things. I thank God again.”
She further narrated her experience: “when I was tired of oyinbo (white man’s) food in the hotel I decided to take a walk and eat local food only to end up in the hospital. I thank God for being alive and I have learnt my lesson. As you can see I have since returned to work.”
