Nigeria Begins Quest For African Glory As AJC Serves Off In Botswana

Nigerian junior players have joined their counterparts from across the continent to fight for honours in this year’s African Junior Tennis Championship.

The junior tourney, which is staged in Bostwana, gets underway from yesterday till 14 April. Nigerian youngsters are once again gunning for glory in the continent’s junior tennis. They are be out to prove that Nigerian tennis is rising again.

Few years ago, Nigerian stars were at the pinnacle of tennis on the continent, but the fortune of the sport has went down drastically.

Nigeria is parading a team of six players and two coaches. These players; four male and two female, had been in camp in the past few weeks under the tutelage of Coach Ubale Mohammed.

The Nigerian team were camped in Lagos. They used the 12th NNPC/Chevron tournament to prepare for the AJC.

Some of the players are Sarah Adegoke, Afolarin Akosile and Samuel Omoile.

Speaking before the team left for the tourney, Adegoke, assured fans that the Nigerian team targeted top position at the end of competition.
