Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, House of Representatives candidate in Ekiti Central Federal Constituency 1, Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele, has commended Nigerians for their enthusiasm and resolute stand against rigging during last Saturday’s National Assembly elections.

The ACN candidate also commended the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof. Attahiru Jega and members of the ACN for coming out en masse to dismantle the edifice erected in the country’s body polity by some unscrupulous politicians through the ballot.

Bamidele commended the leader of the ACN, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu for giving the opposition parties in Nigeria hope of survival in the face of intimidation and coercion

In a statement signed by the Opeyemi Bamidele Campaign Organization and made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti, the politician expressed joy on the outcome of some of the results of the elections, saying the PDP stranglehold on Nigeria is fast crumbling.

He urged ACN in Ekiti to mobilise for the party in the 26 April rescheduled National Assembly elections in Ekiti to complete PDP’s defeat in the Southwest.

The ACN chieftain called on Tinubu to remain steadfast despite the campaign of calumny against his person and ensure that the nation is free from political oppression.

Bamidele, a former Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, posited that gone were the days when incurably corrupt and inept leaders were foisted on Nigerians through stage-managed and fraudulent elections.

The ACN chieftain showered praises on Nigerians for taking their destiny in their hands by voting out “irresponsible leaders that have been feeding fat on Nigeria by cornering all resources that are meant for the masses in the last 12 years.”

He called on members of PDP in the Southwest to be ready for total defeat in subsequent elections, pointing out that its abysmal performance in the outgoing National Assembly was a clear indication that “what remains in the PDP are  mere carcasses  and toothless bulldogs with no electoral values.”

The former commissioner hailed the INEC for doing the country proud by conducting credible elections, adding that the pockets of crises and hitches witnessed during Saturday’s elections were not substantial to discredit the polls.

Bamidele called on the electorate to refrain from being carried away by the euphoria of the performance of the INEC in the elections and charged them to vote and defend their votes from being stolen by electoral hawks in the PDP in the forthcoming elections.

“We have said it that the PDP cannot win any election under a free and fair atmosphere in the Southwest. It has been confirmed now that what remains in the PDP are mere carcasses and people with no electoral values.

“But we want to warn our people against apathy and laxity. They should come out in all elections and disgrace the PDP in the Southwest and Nigeria. We are tired of their poor performance in the last 12 years.

“When Nigerians voted for the PDP in 1999, they did so to have good governance and a new lease of life, but today the reverse is the case. The PDP has turned Nigeria into a pariah state where criminality, militancy, election rigging, terrorism, robbery, unemployment and low life expectancy are now the order of the day

“We are happy that when other countries of the world like Egypt, Libya, Yemen, Bahrain are fighting for freedom through the guns and using dangerous weapons, Nigerians are silently waging war against bad leaders through the ballot,” he concluded.
