44 Held In Benue On Election Day

The police in Benue on Monday said 44 persons were arrested during Saturday’s National Assembly election.

Mr. Sani Magaji, the state’s Commissioner of Police, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Makurdi that those arrested included a man with a pistol.

The suspects, he said, would be prosecuted after investigation was concluded.

The police chief said he could not immediately say whether those arrested were thugs as investigation was still on-going.

He said the suspect with pistol as well as 33 other persons were arrested in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of the state at a road block.

“The security arrangement during the presidential election will be much more organised than during Saturday’s election,” he added.
