Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, Kaduna Polytechnic Chapter, has again called for the sack of the governing council and current management body of the institution.

The demand for sack, according to the ASUP Chairman, Comrade Mustapha Yahaya, is due to refusal of both the governing counciland management to address the problems raised earlier before embarking on the strike five months ago.

P.M.News learnt that part of the issues raised by the union for demand of the sack of the management include criminal misappropriation of funds, maladministration and total lack of managerial competence of the management in running the affairs of the institution

Yahaya who spoke at a world press conference at NUJ Secretariat, Kaduna, said the union gave enough time for the management and council to resolve all the issues raised, but they failed to do so.

He also noted that rather than resolve the issues, the union discovered that the management had continued to squander money generated from sale of admission forms, scratch cards as well as failure to pay staff allowances and salaries.

The union maintained that it is ready to return to classes if the white paper of the visitation panel set up by the Federal Government is released.

Yahaya also hinted that the union is equally prepared to call off the strike if the current level of moral decadence in the management of the institution, corruption, infrastructure decay and administrative incompetence are addressed immediately.
