CBN Open: Main Draws Serve Off

The Main Draws of the 33rd Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Open Tennis Championship served off today at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, Nigeria.

The tournament, which commenced on Friday with the registration of players and qualifying series yesterday, will end on Saturday, 4 June.

P.M.Sportsonline gathered early today that the Main Draws in both the men and women singles consist of 32 players each.

Defending champions of men and women singles, Sunday Emmanuel and Fatima Abinu respectively, have arrived from the tour of Holland, to feature in the championship.

The Nigeria Tennis Federation, NTF, plan to use the tourney as trials to select Nigeria’s representatives to the forthcoming All Africa Games, AAG, in Maputo, Mozambique.

Secretary General NFF, Nkana Mbora said all hands are on deck to ensure a memorable tourney this year.

A total sum of N6.8m has been earmarked as prize money, as the winner in the men’s singles will pocket the sum of N600,000, while the women’s winner will get the sum of N400,000.
