As the Super Falcons of Nigeria get set to trade tackles with their counterparts from the Czech Republic in Austria this evening, one of the three goalkeepers in the team, Jonathan Alaba, has expressed strong confidence in the ability of the Nigerian ladies to see off their opponents.
The match, which comes up 5 p.m Nigerian time, is part of Falcons’ preparation ahead of the Germany 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The friendly tie is scheduled for the Austrian border of Saalfelden. Alaba, a former youth international, is upbeat that the team would come out victorious.
In an online chat with P.M.Sports from Austria this morning, Alaba hinged her optimism on the weather condition, which she said is friendly. “I see the Falcons winning the friendly tie because the weather won’t pose any problem to us,†she said.
Last Sunday, the six-time African champions defeated a first division club Wacker Innsbruck 7-0.
