Former Provost of the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina, Lagos, Reverend T.A.J. Oluwole, has charged old students of CMS Grammar School, Bariga to work for the development of the school.
In his speech at the Founder’s Day celebration organised for the 25th and 40th sets of the school, Rev. Oluwole appealed to the old boys not to forget their alma mater and provide essential facilities required in the school.
“Old boys should note that they have to provide facilities for the school and rehabilitate buildings with architectural defects. Teachers should also be encouraged to render quality teaching to students in the school and not get frustrated while doing their job.
“An example of a good teacher I will never forget is Mr. C.O. Taiwo who is over hundred years old now. He was my teacher and he taught me so well. He made me to imbibe Christian teachings. I can never forget him,†he stated.
Reverend Oluwole admonished the old boys to live a Christ-like life and be strong in the faith. He urged them to keep the school’s fame by working to restore its glory.
The former provost prayed for the old grammarians to excel in their daily endeavors and for those elected to ensure good governance. “I pray that all those we have voted into offices should rule us right and put smiles on the faces of Nigerians,†he added.
Some of the old grammarians present at the celebration were Chief Ernest Shonekan, Mr. Toyin Abayomi and Elderman Folarin Coker.
Gifts were given to students who marked their birthdays during the month while the old grammarians donated several items to the school.
