A printer and mother of one, Mrs. Yemi Akamo, 33 has asked an Agege Grade ‘A’ Customary Court, Lagos to dissolve her eight-year old marriage because her husband, Mr. Adekunle Ogunsanya, a ticketing officer at the Lagos Airport, Ikeja is irresponsible.
Mrs. Akamo, in her petition, accused her husband of abandoning her and her seven-year old child, Tunmise Ogunsanya, adding that the respondent is now married with kids.
Responding, Adekunle denied the allegations, stressing that he did everything humanly possible for her and the child by buying foodstuffs and giving her stipends for the upkeep of the child.
“I rented an apartment for her at Dopemu when she was pregnant for me. When she delivered, I took care of her. I was always going there with foodstuffs. I paid the child’s school fees and never made her suffer for a day. But since she wants divorce, then I accept.
“I can only afford to pay her N5,000 monthly for feeding and accomodation. Whenever the child is ill, she should contact me,†he told the court.
After listening to the parties, Mr. E.B. Shokunle, adjourned the matter till 15 June, 2011 for judgment.
