Rain Shifts Nigeria's Olympic Qualifier With Tanzania

The London 2012 Olympic Games qualifying match between Nigeria’s U-23 Eagles and Tanzania has been postponed due to heavy rain in Benin City, Edo state, Nigeria this evening.

Apart from players of both countries who were disappointed over the development, thousands of fans who defied the rain and came out to support the Eagles went home frustrated.

The fans, who had arrived as early as 2:30 to cheer the team were left in the cold as the ball could not bounce at the waterlogged astro turf of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

The Confederation of African Football, CAF officials, who called off the encounter said it would hold at the same venue and time tomorrow.
