AAG Trials: Osayomi Leads 17 Pros To Calabar

As Nigerian athletes get set for the All Nigeria Open Track and Field Championship, top female sprinter, Damola Osayomi, and Nigerian champion, Blessing Okagbare, are among the 17 foreign-based professionals who have arrived in the country for the event slated for Calabar.

Osayomi is expected to give Okagbare, the University of Texas in El Paso general studies major, who came in on Saturday a run for her money in the 100m women’s race.

Among those who arrived in the country are Ajoke Odumosu, Seun Adigun, Endurance Abinuwa, Jessica Ohanaja, Nurudeen Salim, Blessing Mayungbe, Bidemi Balogun, Grace Chinenkwere and Okwuwa Okolie.

Some of the new athletes who are in town to compete at the Calabar Championships also include Gloria Asumu, Leslie Njoku, Stanley Azie and Okwuwa Okolie.

Also expected to hit town today are Peter Emelieze, Chizoba Okodogbe and Emmanuel Bamishe. Women high jump champion, Tosin Oke, Nigeria’s triple jump champion is expected in Calabar tomorrow.

Meanwhile, National record holder in the women’s high jump at 1.95m, Doreen Amata, has arrived for the 65th All Nigeria Athletics Championships.
