The police at Idimu in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State have launched a manhunt for a local disc jockey who allegedly stabbed a technician, Kareem Ogundeyi, 28 to death with a broken bottle over N45,000 debt.
The suspect, Idowu Omoiyaagbaye, who is a friend of the deceased, investigations revealed, took a broken bottle and stabbed the technician in the neck during a scuffle over payment of the debt in his shop at Isheri Olofin, Alimosho Local Government Area last Wednesday.
The deceased lived at 9, Lap Bus Stop, Isheri Olofin.
Trouble started when the deceased gave N45,000 given to him by a friend to purchase a loudspeaker to the suspect.
Rather than buy a genuine loudspeaker, the disc jockey allegedly bought a fake one which was rejected by the friend of the deceased.
Attempt by the deceased to make the run away disc jockey return the money led to a scuffle between them during which the suspect stabbed the deceased.
P.M.NEWS learnt that the late Ogundeyi had gone to the market on the fateful day to buy ingredients for soup and was about to cook when an argument ensued between him and the suspect who had been living with him for the past five years.
Investigations also revealed that the remains of the deceased had been deposited at the Isolo General Hospital.
Public Relations Officer, PPRO of the Lagos State Police Command, Samuel Jinadu, confirmed the story.
He said the DPO, Idimu Division, C.S.P Austine Akika said his division was still investigating the matter.
Mother of the late Kareem Ogundeyi, Mrs. Tawakalitu Ogundeyi told P.M.NEWS: “I want justice to be done over my son’s death. My son is not a tout, he is not a fraudster.”
