The chairman of Badagry West Local Council Development Area Hon. Joseph Hotoyon Bamgbose has warned against the danger inherent in dumping refuse indiscriminately in water channels.
Hon Bamgbose gave the warning during the appointment and inauguration of the secretary to the Local Council Area, Hon. Abraham Peters.
He said “now that the wet season is here it is imperative that we guide against dumping of refuse into the gutters to avoid blockage which is always the cause of floodingâ€.
The council chairman said the State government was determined to keep the environment clean hence the effort geared towards providing necessary equipment to get rid of refuse In the State. He said the appointment of the secretary would fast track development and help in the areas of communication among the electorate and the authority of the Local government.
He appealed to the workers to extend their cooperation to the new secretary, adding that is administration would not fail to bring more development to the rural dwellers.
Responding, Hon. Peters assured the chairman of his commitment and promised that the efforts of the State government at making life more meaningful to the public will be complimented.
