Two staff buses belonging to Yaba College of Technology, Yaba, Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, were among the several vehicles impounded at Onipanu axis of Ikorodu Road, by officials of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), for flouting the state traffic rule, by using the Bus Rapid Transportation (BRT) lane this morning.
The registration numbers of the staff buses impounded were FG 73 B51 and FG 75 B51.
A staff member of the school, who did not disclose his identity, told P.M.NEWS that the school drivers had been warned by the school’s management not to use the BRT lane.
Also two vehicles belonging to military personnel were impounded.
The operation was led by Commander Dada Joshua and Odunuga Kayode.
P.M.NEWS also gathered that the Military Police has given its backing that any military personnel caught making use of the BRT lane should be arrested.
An official of LASTMA, who spoke with P.M.NEWS on the military involvement, explained that the step is taken to forestall the recurrence of an incident between LASTMA officials and an army corporal who resisted arrest for using the BRT lane last week.
