Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has given his backing to the forthcoming double wrestling bouts slated for Lagos and Abuja on 26 and 29 August respectively.
The Speaker’s support is another boost for the wrestling bouts, considering the fact that the Secretary to the Federal Government of Nigeria and former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, had earlier played host to the Heavyweight Champion of the Continental Wrestling Alliance, the Great Power Uti .
Appreciating Power Uti’s exploits in the ring, the Tambuwal frowned at the poor support by the government and successive Ministers of Sports in the country.
He promised that the House would urge government to come to the aid of sports and use it as a tool to stem the tide of youth restiveness in the country.
