The heavy downpour which occurred on Monday disrupted the ongoing 2nd edition of Ezirim Cup, currently taking place at the Olympic football pitch in Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos.
Match coordinator, Chuks Osiyi, told GSG that they stopped some matches as a result of heavy downpour. He urged the affected teams to see the rain as a blessing in disguise instead of blaming the organizers for shifting their matches.
“We cannot blame God for the rain but we should rather see it as blessing to us. I want to apologise to the affected teams for the inconvenience we might have caused them with the postponement,†he said.
Action will continue today when Youngstars FC clash with Elegance FC.
A total of 131 goals have been scored so far from 48 games. The leading scorer is Joseph Akra of young strikers who scored hat-trick twice; Sunday Biko scored 4 goals from Ijesha Utd, while David Michael from Divine Royals FC scored three goals.
