Chief Coach of DC Motema Pembe of Congo, Andy Mfutila, has admitted that Sunshine Football Club of Akure, Nigeria, outplayed his team and deserved victory in their first group game of the CAF Confederation Cup on Saturday at the Ijebu Ode International Stadium, Ogun State.
Sunshine’s first goal came in the 60th minute when Dayo Ojo connected a pass from Osasco Precious and fired home a shot at close range. Ibrahim Ajani who was adjudged man of the match in the encounter scored the late goal via a header in the 90th minute to grab victory.
Mfutila who was satisfied with the performance of both teams told P.M.Sports after the pulsating encounter that Sunshine put up a good performance and they were on rampage in the second half until they won the game. The Congolese coach disclosed that Sunshine were better than his team and if they can continue to play like this, Nigeriaâ€™s representative in CAF Confederation Cup will go places.
â€œThe game was a tough one for us. We came to Nigeria to get a point but unfortunately Sunshine snatched the three points which is a good one for them,â€ he said.
The Congolese coach said their defeat by Sunshine will spur them to win their next match against MAS of Morocco in two weeks time.
