Dirtiness: Fashola's Aide Warns Marketers

The Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Central Business Districts (CBD), Mrs. Derin Disu, has warned marketers on the Lagos Island CBD to clean their premises or have their market shut.

Disu, who inspected markets and shopping plazas on Nnamdi Azikiwe, Broad, Martins, Ereko, Idumagbo, Balogun and Bamgbose streets, was accompanied by the Managing Director of Lagos State Waste Management Authority, Mr. Ola Oresanya.

The Special Adviser expressed displeasure over the indiscriminate dumping of refuse by traders of Lagoon Plaza and the Union Homes Plaza on Nnamdi Azikiwe Street and directed the market leaders to arrest the situation or face appropriate sanctions.

“I expect traders in this plaza and other markets on CBD to bag their waste and give them to waste collectors rather than dump them mindlessly on the road to hinder vehicular traffic and create environmental nuisance,” she said.

The Special Adviser also inspected the Outer Marina pedestrian walkway for an on-the-spot assessment of the proposed replacement of the its guard rail.

The representative of Konsult Electroteknic Limited, the contractor handling the project, Mr. Akintewe explained the scope of the project as well as the various design and accessories of the guard rail project.
