Beijing Olympic Games bronze medalist, Chika Chukwumerije, will not represent Nigeria at the 10th All Africa Games in Maputo, Zimbabwe as his attention is fully focused on the World Taekwondo Championships coming up next month.

The President of the Taekwondo Federation of Nigeria, TFN, Chief Jonathan Nnaji, made this revealation to brilafm.net, saying other taekwondoists will be given the chance to make names for themselves at the quadrennial event

Nnaji disclosed that Chika, who has also won gold medal for Nigeria at the 9th All Africa Games in 2007 is at the moment concentrating on the World Taekwondo Championships holding in the first week of next month.

“It is after this that he would go for the Olympic Games qualification series in Europe. We are trying to see if we can discover another Chika at the 10th All Africa Games. Therefore, we have allowed Chika to concentrate his energy on his next two engagements,” he said.

Nnaji who doubles as second Vice President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, NOC, told brilafm.net that the only thing that will make Chika competes at the All Africa Games is if he fails to pick an Olympic Games slot at the World Qualification series, as the federation attaches more importance to the Olympic than the All Africa Games.
