Sunshine Shine In Algeria, Beat JS Kabylie 2-1

The ambition of Nigeria’s Sunshine Stars to win CAF Confderation Cup for the country gets brighter with each match as the Ondo State government sponsored team defeated JS Kabylie of Algeria 2-1 last night.

 

Sunshine are thus top of Group B with six points from two matches, while Morocco’s Maghreb de Fes, who beat JSK 1-0 in their opening group game, are away to Motema Pembe of DR Congo.

 

Motema Pembe were beaten 2-0 by Sunshine in Ijebu-Ode two weeks ago.

 

“We give God the glory and the Nigerian community also for all the support. Credit must also be given to the boys for this excellent performance in spite of all they were subjected to,” said Sunshine’s top official, Mike Idoko.

 

“We will not rest on our oars, we will take it one game at a time with seriousness and determination.”

The home team went in front through Fares Hemetti in the 18th minute, before Sunday Emmanuel drew level on 39 minutes.

 

Striker Atanda Sakibu grabbed the match winner on 78 minutes.

 

Four Sunshine players were booked in this clash – goalkeeper Moses Ocheje, goal scorer Emmanuel, Precious Osasco and Moses James.

 

Two Group A matches will also be played tomorrow. Nigeria’s Kaduna United are away at Club Africain of Tunisia, while Interclube of Angola will host Asec Mimosas of Cote d’Ivoire.
