Chariot Of Fire Relish RCCG Cup

Chief Coach of Chariot of Fire(006) Anthony Ibeh was on cloud nine when his team won the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, LP 35 Football Competition held last weekend at the Campos Sports Centre, Lagos Island, Lagos State.

Chariot of Fire defeated Christ Church(010) football team 5-4 on penalty shootout after a baren draw at the regulation time.

Ibeh told PM Sports after the game that his team played well and deserved to be crowned champions. He boasted that his team would have won the match at the regulataion time but poor finishing denied them the victory.

“We had the opportunity to win the match at the regulataion time but my players were playing to the gallery which almost cost our defeat.I thank our goalkeeper, Prince Isamade, who lived up to expectations by saving two crucial penalty kicks that earned us the victory,” he said.

Ibeh congratulated their opponents for qualifying for the final stage, saying both teams played good football but a better side won the game.

Christ Church coach,Olufemi Emmanuel, was disappointed with the outcome of the match, sayng his team were unlucky to have lost the match via penalty shootout.

Commenting on the tourney, Emmanuel expressed satisfaction with the organisation and officiating of the competition.He said all the participating teams played good football throghout the tournament.

Speaking at the final ceremony, LP 35 Provincial Pastor, Remi Morgan glorified God for the success of the competition. He was happy that the organisers worked round the clock to make the final a memorable one.

“I am impressed with the standard of play of both teams.They played like champions.It is unfortunate that one team must win. I congratulate Chariot of Fire for achieving this feat and all the teams that participated in the LP 35 Football Competition,” he said.

He said the tourney was organised by the Lagos Province 35 to provide a platform for raw and budding talented youths within the church to exhibit their God-given gift in the area of sports

In the third place match, The Chief Shepherd (Area 013) defeated Trinity Tabernacle (Area 004) 1-0 to win N100,000.

The winners go home with the sum of N300,000 with a giant trophy, while the first runner up receieved N200,000

The pulsating encounter was watched by LP 35 Provincial Pastor, Remi Morgan, some invited guests and a hundred of spectators.
