First Bank Vow To Reclaim Zenith League Title

First Bank Club of Lagos have declared that they are ready to reclaim the title they lost in last year’s Zenith Bank Women Basketball League in the second phase which dunks off in Akure, Ondo State tomorrow.

The coach Adewunmi Aderemi-led team said they are determined to reclaim the title they lost to First Deepwater of Lagos last year after a long period domination of the women league in the country.

Chris Acha, assistant coach of the team, informed P.M Sports that they are ready to take on any opposition in the 10-day competition.

“We are ready to take every game as it comes because we have been training very hard, the players are in good shape and raring to go.

“Luckily for us there is no injury problem. We are battle ready for the tourney,” he said.

Acha also stated that “the rescheduling of the commencement date of the tourney was a blessing in disguise for us as it afforded us time to prepare the ladies physically and mentally for the task ahead.

“We know it’s not going to be easy, but I can assure you that we are set to face any opponent and make sure we achieve the ultimate target of maintaining the top spot on the log.”

First Bank of Lagos beat champions, First Deepwater, by 60-44 to win the first phase of the Zenith Bank Women Basketball League which was held in Abuja.
