President of Nigeria Rugby Football Federation, NRFF ,Richard Ajayi has said that the visit of renowned rugby lock and World cup winning star, Kobus Wiese, will motivate Nigerian youths to take interest in the sport.
Wiese, who had clinched many laurels during his illustrious international rugby career, will be in Lagos from 16-18 August and during his stay, he will be hosted by the NRFF at Saipan Restaurant Wine Bar, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Addresing journalists in Lagos, Ajayi said the South African rugby legend will not only motivate the youth, but will also share his wealth of professional experience with rugby enthusiasts and stakeholders in the country.
â€œWe are happy that Wiese will be visiting Nigeria for the first time. During his visit, he will deliver a motivational talk titled â€œDeveloping The Game Of Rugby, especially for the youth. We believe that his stay in Nigeria will encourage our youth to have interest in the game,â€ he said.
The sponsors, therefore, said the visit of Wiese is aimed at encouraging youths to take interest in the game of Rugby football in Nigeria, at the same time showcasing African sporting heroes that could serve as role models for the overall development of the sport in the country.
The historic event will be graced by the Deputy South African High Commissioner, Lagos State Commissioner for Sports& Youth Development and members of local rugby community.
Wiese shot to the stardom while playing for the World cup winning springboks in 1995, and maintained a striking record of victories all through until his retirement from the game as an active player in 1996.
