The Lagos State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party , PDP, has berated the state House of Assembly for passing the tenancy law, which they said cannot stand the test of time.

The party in a statement signed by its State Publicity Secretary, Barrister Ganiu Taofeek, and made available to Political Platform, noted that the resources put in the said Bill and others like the Private Schools Guidelines etc, are a waste and diversionary.

According to the party, the LAHA should know that the actual reason for high cost of rents in the state is because the government has failed in its responsibility to provide affordable houses for Lagosians.

“The moment the government recognises the actual need of Lagosians, like building affordable housing, the houses built by shylock landlords will become unattractive,” it stated.

The party, however, admonished house owners to see their positions as God’s blessing and therefore, consider the poor.
