Suspected Thief Caught Inside State House

Security operatives attached to the State House, Marina, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria have arrested a man, Oghenevo Ijoko, for allegedly jumping the wall of the State House to steal on 5 August, 2011.

P.M.NEWS gathered that the suspect was arrested before he could cause any havoc and was handed over to the police at the Lion Building Police Division for investigation.

During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to the crime and

was charged before the Igbosere Magistrates’ Court on a count charge of stealing, an offence the prosecutor, Samuel Ighodalo, said is punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 17, Vol. 11, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and the presiding magistrate, Mr. Y. J. Badejo Okusanya, admitted him on bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties who must be blood relations.

The matter has been adjourned till 25 August, 2011 for mention while the accused was remanded in prison on the orders of the magistrate when nobody came to bail him.
