Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) chairmanship aspirant for Ikeja Local Government, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, Mojeed Balogun, has said that it is his desire to transform the council and make it a reference point among local government administrations in the state and Nigeria as a whole.

Balogun who said this during a chat with LG Circuit, added that he will achieve this through his intellectual strength and adherence to positive governance.

“Everyone will agree that the Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola (SAN) stands out from the entire state governors nationwide. He has been able to transform the state into a real mega city by building on the foundation laid by his predecessor, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu.

“It is clear to Lagosians that these men achieved all these based on their intellectual strength and adherence to positive governance. These are the major ingredients needed for the transformation of Ikeja Local Government into a true capital city. These are some of the qualities that I believe qualify me to be the chairman of the local council.

“I am of the belief that this is now time to allow the younger generation to build on the foundation already laid by our fathers. It is time for us to bring in the best brains into local government administration so that we can leverage on their network, intelligence and exposure,” he noted.

He said further that it is his desire to align the local government to the dream of the new Lagos, adding that the council hosts the capital city and that it must show in its infrastructure and manpower development.

“Based on this trust, I am offering myself to serve Ikeja local government as the next chairman. My focus will cut across a broad spectrum with greater attention placed on the functions of the local council as enshrined in the constitution.

“In line with this, I pledge to enhance quality education, establish Ikeja Local Government Educational Trust Fund, provide affordable primary healthcare services to all residents, especially our youths, with opportunities to discover, develop and maximise their sporting potentials.

“I will also improve social infrastructure, ensure the computerisation of government to business (G2B) and ensure that Ikeja regains its clean/beautiful environment as well as provide an all-inclusive, transparent and people-friendly leadership,” he pledged.
