Italy 2011 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup: Super Sand Eagles Ready

Captain of Nigeria’s Super Sand Eagles, Isiaka Olawale, has declared that he and his teammates are battle ready to confront their group’s opponents in this year’s FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Italy.

The championship tagged Ravenna Italy 2011, kicks off today and ends on Saturday, 11 September.

Olawale, a player of Nigeria Premier League side, Kwara United, said that his team, which have been preparing for the FIFA tournament in Faro, Portugal, are charged and raring to go.

According to him, the team are ready to take on Russia in tomorrow’s group game by 2:30p.m., Nigerian time.

“The team are battle ready. Though the fight won’t be easy, we’ll try our best not to disappoint the country,” he said.

Meanwhile, image maker of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Demola Olajire, has disclosed that the Beach Sand Eagles landed safely in Italy after their camping in Faro, Portuga.

In chat with brilafm.net, Olajire revealed that the team hit Italy on Tuesday evening after which they were conveyed straight to Ravenna by FIFA personnel.

The Adamu Audu-tutored lads are in Group C alongside Russia, Tahiti and Venezuela. After their first group match tomorrow, they will play against Venezuela on 4 September by 4p.m. and play their last group game against Tahiti on 6 September by 7p.m.
