Samsung Ignites Grassroots Football In Lagos

The battle line has been drawn for eight teams that will slug it out in the Samsung invitational grassroots football competition in commemoration of the Samsung week.

The three-day competition which began yesterday featured eight teams divided in two groups.

Group A comprises Tosban FC of Bariga, Clinque Sport Academy of Lekki, Daniel Olukoya of Yaba and Surulere Grassroots

Group B consists of Junior Milan of Agege, Ristinego FC of Mushin, Collins Edwin of Lagos Island and Bright Stars of Apapa

Speaking at the match draw held on Tuesday at Lagoon Restaurant, Managing Director, Samsung Electronics West Africa, Nicholas Shin, said Samsung is passionate about football and the importance of grassroots football development to sharpen youths’ technical ability.

In the opening match played yesterday, Boska Cup champions, Daniel Olukoya FC defeated Tosban FC 3-0.In other results,Collins Edwin humbled Junior Milan 3-1,Ristinego defeated Bright Stars 2-0 while Surulere Grassroots massacred Clique Sports Acdemy 3-0

In the semi final coming up this afternoon , Olukoya Daniel FC will confront Surulere Grassroots while Collins Edwin will battle Ristinego FC in the last match of the day at the Nigeria Institute of Sports NIS training pitch of National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

The final will come up tomorrow as Samsung officials and other sports personalities are expected to grace the occasion.
