The suspect allegedly killed his wife, Titilayo, during a quarrel at their Aswani area Lagos residence on 24 June, 2011.

The presiding magistrate, Mrs. Demi Ajayi gave the order on Wednesday when the matter came up at the court.

She said the Director Of Public Prosecution, DPP’s advice was ready and will be read to the suspect before the matter could proceed.

Ajayi said the advice could not be read without the suspect being present in the court.

She therefore ordered that a warrant be issued to the prison authorities to produce him in court in the next adjourned date, to hear the advice issued by the DPP.

Akolade was due in court Wednesday but the prison officials did not bring him to court as there was no warrant issued to that effect.

The case has been adjourned till Monday, 31 October.

The court, on 8 September, 2011, when he was first arraigned, on one count charge of unlawful killing of wife, had ordered that he should be remanded in prison custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice.

Akolade was alleged to have stabbed his wife, Titilayo, to death during a quarrel on 24 June, 2011, at their residence, 8, Akinseinde Street, Isolo.

In his bid to cover the alleged crime, he was said to have jumped the fence of their house but got arrested two days later by the olice at Aswani Police station.

He was then transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba, for interrogation.

He was subsequently taken to court for prosecution.
