Ahead Zenith Bank League: First Deepwater Intensify Training

Defending champions of the Zenith Bank sponsored Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) organised women league, First Deepwater, have commenced preparation ahead of the first phase of the league slated for March.

The club recently completed a three-day screening exercise which saw the return of some of her former players such as Magdalene Ukato who crossed back to the Oil & Gas ladies from First Bank club.

Other players snapped up by the Nigerian champions include Rashidat Ahmed from Sunshine Angels of Akure, Chinwe Okorie formerly of FCT Queens of Abuja and Emmanuella Awobajo from Nigeria Immigration of Kano among others.

First Deepwater, according to the team manager Abayomi Adeeyo, are set to defend the their league title for the third time.

He said: We have started preparation for a couple of weeks to make sure we remain strong for the new season.We are champions two times consecutively.Winning is sweet and we do not want to relinquish the title, not too soon.

The soft-spoken team manager also said that the club parent body, First Deepwater Discovery Limited, is open to new innovation that will propel the club to greater heights.

First Deepwater currently train daily under the watchful eyes of their coaches, Lateef Erinfolami and Shola Ogunade.
