Liberation Stadium, Port Harcourt, Rivers State will be agog this weekend as Dolphins FC play host to Niger Tornadoes in one of the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) matches.

The Nigerian champions, Dolphins, will be out to consolidate on their 2-1 victory over the newly promoted Jigawa Golden Stars in their midweek match.

Dolphins were smarting from the 1-3 derba defeat in the hands of city rivals, Sharks, last Saturday and needed a positive response to pacify their home supporters.

Emma Nwachi was having a lot of joy upfront and duly put the home side in front with a smartly-taken goal on 37 minutes.

Two minutes later, it was 2-0 to the champions, as they added to their advantage through Abduljeleel Ajagun.

The visitors poured forward and were rewarded three minutes from half time when Bala Mohammed halved the deficit.

The second period could not match the first half in terms of goal mouth action as defences dominated.

“We did well in the first half and the goal we conceded was down to loss of concentration. It was important that we won today (Wednesday),” assistant coach of Dolphins, Zachary Baraje told SuperSport.com.

Dolphins are in second place on the NPL log with 18 points from nine games.
