Ahead 2012 National Sports Festival: Surulere Ready To Host Athletes

Surulere Local Government Area Chairman, Mr Tajudeen Ajide, has declared the council’s readiness to host the athletes coming from all over the country to Lagos for the National Sports Festival slated to hold later in the year.

The council boss told P.M. Sports that his council will do everything to ensure that all participating states enjoy their stay throughout the festval in Surulere.

Ajide, who was the former vice-chairman of the council, said despite the large numbers of athletes expected for the festival, the people of Surulere are not worried about the challenges ahead of them. He assured that the council will provide conducive environment for the athletes to stay during the sports event.

He said: “Surulere is ready to host the visiting states when they come for the sports festival in November. We are putting measures in place to ensure a hitch-free sports festival for all the fans and athletes that will come for the sports event”

He stated that in preparation for the festival, the council has already begun to beautify most of the areas in the council, adding that they are not waiting till the last moment to put things in order.

The footballer turned administrator, who spent over 20 years in the United Kingdom before returning to the country to contribute his quota to local government politics, implored youths from the area to make Surulere Local Government proud during the festival.

He also called on parents to allow their children to participate in sports related activities, adding that it will help the youths to calm their nerves and channel their aggressiveness into positive ventures, instead of involving in social vices like thuggery, cultism and others.
