Sub Saharan pay-tv operator, DSTV, a brand of Multi-Choice Nigeria, has revealed its intention to continue the sponsorship of the Nigerian basketball league with only this season left in the initial four-year deal they signed with the Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF.
Managing Director of Multi-Choice Nigeria, John Ugbe, said: “Sponsoring the Nigerian basketball league is part of our corporate social responsibility, and we hope to continue the cordial relationship.
“We have not decided the final figures of the new contract but I can assure Nigerians it will be bigger than the existing one. We hope to make an official announcement on this very soon.”
Felix Awogu, on his part, urged the league organisers, coaches, club owners and every other stakeholder to put in concerted efforts to making the league a success.
He decried the low turn-out of fans at match venues, calling on all stakeholders to bring back the fans to the arenas in the Atlantic and Savannah conferences.
President of NBBF, Tijani Umar commended the unflinching support of Multi Choice in the last four years, adding that he hopes when both parties finally renew their contract, more value would be added to the domestic basketball league.
