Baale of Omoleland, Ikeja, Taiwo Nasiru Bakare, has urged the 24 teams taking part in the ongoing 2nd Baale Omole Cup to shun violence and social vices that can bring the championship into disrepute.
Bakare stated this while chatting with P.M.Sports in his palace.
He charged the players to be good ambassadors of their clubs, saying that any player who violates the rules governing the tournament will be sanctioned accordingly.
“I want the players to put in their best and shun soccer violence throughout the tourney. Any club which feel cheated should complain to the disciplinary committee that will look into their matter without fear or favour,” he said.
A former tennis coach who veered into football advised the players to combine education with their football careers, adding that every footballer should strive to be educated during their active days before they retire.
“It is very important for every player to be educated, so that he will not be a liability to his family and the community after retirement,” he said.
Action continues today when Juvenile FC clash with Sammy FC, Beckon FC face Mash FC in the second match of the day, which will be played at Sky Power playground, Ikeja, Lagos.
