3 Special Jeeps Get Sinister Look

Looking sinister enough to roam the dodgiest backstreets of American cities, the new limited-edition Grand Cherokee, Compass and Patriot ‘Altitude’ models will hit American streets in May – although the models are still under consideration for the Nigerian market.

Earlier this year, Jeep introduced a distinctive, ‘blacked-out’ production-intent concept Grand Cherokee at the Houston Auto Show, and asked Jeep fans to name it. Following more than 100,000 entries from enthusiasts, ‘Altitude’ emerged as the winning name.

The resulting Grand Cherokee Altitude edition stays true to the concept vehicle with its aggressive chrome and ‘blacked-out’ styling. Its grille surround appears in black gloss, and mesh grille texture in platinum chrome. A platinum chrome lower fascia appliqué completes the unique front-end appearance. Black headlamp bezels and a black tailgate light bar continue the dark theme throughout the vehicle’s exterior. The Grand Cherokee Altitude rides on 20-inch rims that surround black-gloss alloy wheels. Similar ‘blacked out’ exterior modifications have also been carried out on the Compass and Patriot Altitude editions.
