Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Enitan Oshodi has reiterated government’s commitment to host a successful Lagos State Sports Festival tagged ‘2012 IBILE Games’.
The event, which begins today and will end on 26 May, will witness various kinds of sports throughout the three weeks the event will last.
Organisers of 2012 IBILE Games have announced that all the 57 local councils of the state will participate in the event.
Oshodi told P.M.Sports that part of the state preparation for the forthcoming National Sports Festival is to organise IBILE Games so that more talents will be discovered for the state ahead of the National Sports Festival.
“We are committed to this programme so that we can get the best out of our athletes. We have put the necessary things in place for the smooth running of the event and ensure that all the athletes are financially rewarded. Secondly, it is an opportunity to test run the facilities put in place during the IBILE Games,” he said.
Chairman Technical Committee, Fatayi-Williams Babatunde has assured the state government of a successful IBILE Games. He said the organisers will work round the clock to ensure that all the participating local councils are given an equal opportunity to take part in all events.
He said the State Sports Festival will help the coaches in various sports to discover young talents that may represent the state in the National Sports Festival.
“I want to assure all the participants that the State Government has committed a lot of money and human resources to this programme. It is now left for us to make sure that the event brings the best out of the athletes,” he said.
