Chief Coach of Messiah Football Club of Agege, Anthony Ushurhe is looking foward to the Adeyinka Yusuf Cup final, which holds 27 May, at the Teachers Training College, Ifako-Ijaiye. He spoke on how his team are preparing for the final in this interview with Grassroots Soccer Guide.
Coach, Your team have a tough Yusuf Cup final against Labro FC later this month?
Oh yes, we started an early preparation immeditely after winning our semi final game. I must confess that our boys are ready to confront Labro FC in the final.
What do you know about Labro FC?
Labro FC are a good side. We met them in the group stage, but we played a barren draw. I am happy that we will play them in the final again and I belive we will settle our score then.
Do you think it will be easy for your team to beat them in the final, considering the outcome of the group match?
I don’t expect an easy match but I know we have a formidable team that can win the title .
After the Yusuf Cup, what other championships are you preparing for?
We want to take part in the Lagos Street Soccer and other high profile soccer tournaments.
Tell us briefly how you started your coaching career?
I actually started last year and since I joined the Messiah FC, things have been working fine for me.
But you have not won any laurel for the club?
Of course, but I am not bothered about that. As long the club management is satisfied with my work, I am pleased and working hard to win cups for them.
