Powerlifting: Benedict Vows To Win Medals For Lagos

A power lifter, Austin Benedict, has vowed to win medals for Lagos State, if given the privilege to represent the state at the upcoming National Sports Festival billed to hold in November.

In a chat with P.M.Sports, Benedict boasted to win laurels for the state, but stated that he must get a chance to exhibit his talent.

“Lagos State should expect at least a medal from me if I get the nod to represent it at the festival. I am working hard so that I can do the state proud if I am finally selected for the games,” said Benedict.

The powerlifter said Team Lagos can be overall winners at the games as hosts like what Rivers State did at the Garden City Games, when they finished top on the log.

“Team Lagos have the ability to emerge as the overall winners at the games. I don’t think anything should hinder us from winning the festival since Rivers State did it at the last festival,” said Benedict.

The athlete however appealed to the government to provide more training equipment for the athletes to give their best at the games.

“The government should provide more training facilities for us so that we can give our best at the games. The training equipment will help to facilitate our preparation for the games,” concluded Benedict.
