Participants Hail Kidscrabble Organisers

Participants at the maiden KidsScrabble tourney held at the King’s College, Lagos, last weekend have commended the organisers of the tourney, Brainpower Scrabble Academy.

The organisers, led by the Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of Brainpower Scrabble Academy, Wale Ilori, held the first edition of the tourney tagged “ZESKS 2012,” a name coined from Zenith Sports Kidscrabble Show, for children under 17 years of age, at the King’s College, Lagos.

Speaking with P.M.Sports at the end of the one-day tourney, the overall champion, Faleti Adekunle from Ogun State said: “I am very happy for the opportunity to show my scrabble ability competitively. The organisers have really done well for us and we hope they would keep their promise and make the tourney an annual event.”

The first runner up, Sanya Adebola, who finished second, in his assessment of the tourney said: “It was a fun-filled tourney and the competition was friendly. Judging by what we experienced in this first edition, we can only hope for a bumper package next year.”

Michael Odafe Mgbolu of King’s College, Lagos, opined that the organiser should endeavour to ensure that more female scrabble players are invited in the next edition, adding that he has really improved his word bank by participating at the tourney.

All the winners were given trophies, while all the participants were presented with certificates for their effort.

Chief Executive Officer,CEO, of Brainpower Scrabble Academy, Wale Ilori said that: “The aim of this innovative idea is to catch future scrabble players for the country at a young age and nurture them into stardom where would be able to represent the country at major championships.”

Some of the sponsor of the tourney include, Zenith Sports Limited, Principal, King’s College, Lagos and the Nigeria Scrabble Federation, NSF.
