Ex-Open varsity VC now Kogi government scribe

Nigeria’s Kogi state government has appointed Professor Olugbenro Jegede, the pioneer Vice Chancellor of National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), as its Secretary.

Jegede, whose appointment was announced in a statement issued in Lokoja on Monday, replaced Alhaji Musa Ahmadu, who held the office since 2005.

The statement, signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategy, Mr Jacob Edi, said the appointment of Jegede, an indigene of Ogori in Kogi Central Senatorial District, took immediate effect.

Jegede is the Secretary -General of the Association of African Universities with headquarters in Accra.

The statement said that the governor had also approved the appointments of four new special advisers and a senior special assistant.

They are Hajia Maimunat Jumai Ibrahim, Special Adviser on Healthcare, Mr Idakwoji Ilemona, Special Adviser, Assembly and Legislative matters, and Mr Talib Raji, Special Adviser, Legal Matters.

Others are Mr Eric Fiki, Special Adviser on Policy and Political Affairs and Mr Ahmed Jatto, Special Assistant on Physical Development and Environment. (NAN)
