‘I’m More Than A Rap Star’
Rising rap star and song writer Mojisola Serah Sowole a.k.a. CocoIce is ready to storm the Nigerian music scene.
Showbiz Trends gathered that in a couple of weeks, CocoIce will officially drop the song If U Don’t Know, a remake of the late rap star DaGrin’s hit song Pon Pon Pon.
According to her, she did the song as a tribute to the late rap star and also to show people her versatility. The video for the song was produced by the young and talented director Aina Mathew a.k.a. Matt Max. The song will be available for downloading on all major music sites once released.
CocoIce is currently under the management of MAGiC Entertainment, led by Biodun Caston-Dada. Aside her being a stylish rap artiste, she is also a part-time model. She has delved into the rap genre, sampling songs of popular international rap stars such as Heavy D, 2pac, Nas, Puff Daddy, Mase, Missy Elliot, Eric Semon and Lil Kim. She is not only an ordinary rapper but a lyricist who knows how to play around with words, metaphors and idioms as she has been exhibited in her songs.
Cocoice cut her musical teeth with popular music producer OJB Jezereel, who hooked her up with Jo’Kaynie who produced her first single, Get Nutty featuring May D, a signee of P-Square’s Square Records.
Get Nutty enjoyed heavy rotations on various radio stations and was a club favourite among top DJs across the country. She has also done a lot of freelance recording with other producers/artiste such as Xtac, Black Solo, and FreeStyle amongst many others.
In 2009, she met late DaGrin, and with his assistance, CocoIce was able to hone her Yoruba rap skills thereby allowing her to express her lyrics in a way she feels comfortable with and at the same time embracing her much rich culture and dialect.
